Dr. Kate MacAdam is a Chiropractic Sports Specialist She has dedicated her career to giving back to her profession and her community through her commitment to patient care, academia, teaching, research, mentoring, and volunteering.
She spends all of her free time with the loves of her life - her husband Jaret Connick and their beautiful children Sophie & Ben. You can always see her little Toy Poodle Nellie at the clinic. Her most precious memories are made at the cottage in Lakeside, Prince Edward Island. EducationDr. Kate attained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2000 and majored in Athletic Therapy. Her work with varsity athletes introduced her to sport chiropractic treatment for athletic injuries. Upon completion of her doctorate in chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2005, she pursed graduate studies in sports chiropractic sciences. She completed her Master of Science from Dalhousie University in 2009. She completed her Acupuncture Canada Certification in 2016. She obtained Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) in 2017. She is the only woman in Nova Scotia with this professional designation.

Research |
Her Master Thesis entitled, "Does guided imagery as an adjunct to chiropractic treatment affect pain and disability in physically active adults with chronic low back pain?" concluded that guided imagery may be beneficial as an adjunct to spinal manipulative therapy in the treatment of chronic low back pain. Her first published research was in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics in 2005 entitled, "Validation of a Sham Manipulative Procedure for the Cervical Spine for Use in Clinical Trials."

Professional Offices |
Dr. MacAdam has a passion for advocacy and policy in chiropractic. She is currently a Board Member of the Specialty Colleges Council Members of the Federation of Canadian Chiropractic. She served as a Board Member for the Canadian Chiropractic Research Foundation. She served as an Opinion Leader for the Canadian Chiropractic Guidelines Initiative. She had the privilege to serve as the Chair of the Canadian Chiropractic Association's Patient Experience Task Force.
Provincially, she served as both the Vice President and Treasurer of the Council of Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors. She served on many committees including the the Chair of the Inter-professional Committee, Membership Development Committee, and Co-Chair of the Insurance Committee. She was involved as the chiropractor representative for the Worker's Compensation Board Committee. Her first Board member position was the Nova Scotia Board member for Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College Board of Governors from 2006-2009. She has been on the Interview Committee for prospective students for the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College for almost 20 years. |

She has been a Clinical Instructor for Case Studies in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University since 2009. She previously held positions as a Teaching Assistant for Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity and a Sessional Instructor for Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries at Dalhousie University, a Clinical Instructor at Eastern College, and a Community Based Practitioner at CMCC.
